Weber A fractures

These fractures are defined as distal fibular fractures below the level of the syndesmosis. These are typically stable injuries that does not require surgical fixation.

Management

  • is mainly supportive with analgesia, rest, elevation, ice.

  • A walking boot can be provided for comfort, but it is advisable to regularly remove the walking boot to allow ankle range of movement (to prevent stiffness).

  • If a patient really struggles with walking, they can be offered crutches as well for support.
